Jason Day knows where he stands right now. And that is in the lead at the first playoff event of the Fedex Cup, The Barclays. Many thought this would be the tournament when Tiger Wooods would bounce back and claim a reassuring victory. But when world number 1 lost four shots playing his second nine very poorly on friday, the lead was handed over to the Australian at 22 years of age. Day had three birdies late and finished with a ''Day'' of 4 under par, a 67, and a one shot lead. 9 players all held the lead at different points of the round. The EDS Byron Nelson Champion is at -8 one shot ahead of Kevin Streelman, and Augusta, Ga. native, Vaughn Taylor. Tiger Woods was patient during his round but even he admits his putting was off on Friday Afternoon. Some may say that he wasn't stroking it on the greens his best because the greens were bumpy from earlier tee times, but many people also think that he would be used to that having been playing in the late afternoon many times before. But even my 8 year old brother could have made that 20 inch par putt on the fifth. Get with it dude! ''I hit the ball great'' Woods commented, ''But I can't score if I can't putt.'' He finished with a 73 +2. But at least he knows that he'll still have the world number one spot after this week. Phil Mickelson ended up missing the cut. Woods is still very much in the running taking in to account that he has only missed two fairways in two rounds.
If you want to talk about a hot streak start talking about Kevin Streelman on day 2 of the Barclays. In seven holes Streelman birdies six of them. He will be in the final group playing round 3. Stewart Cink, a Ryder Cup hopeful, posted a 69 on friday joining a group of people at -6 for the championship. Martin Laird, and once leader John Senden are the other players joining Stewart at 6 under par.
Very Dissapointing outing for world number two Phil Mickelson who started this week with a 72 and ended with a three over 74. Another time he has failed to capture Tiger Woods in the battle for World Number One. Phil Mickelson missed the cut by four strokes.
He did not speak to reporters
